Description
AFAB (Advanced Flash Arresting Brake)
Combines the performance of both a dedicated flash hider and a dedicated compensator. Patented AFAB™ technology employs a complex matrix of tiny passageways that slowly diffuse and cool combustion gases so you can stay on target during rapid fire engagements while effectively suppressing muzzle flash and side concussion. Closed bottom design reduces dust signature when shooting prone. Precision machined from heat treated stainless steel with an advanced Ionbond® high temperature CrCN coating for extreme durability. Features 3/32" pilot hole for permanent pinning to bring 14.5" barrels to legal length.
The AFAB is designed to fit .223 caliber (5.56mm) AR-15/M16/M4 style rifles with 1/2-28 muzzle threads. It is not recommend to use this device on barrel lengths shorter than 14.5". For SBR's & pistol length barrels please see our EFAB device.
Caution: Do not use crush washers with this product.
FAQ
When selecting a caliber for one of our muzzle devices, the correct choice is based on your cartridge's actual bullet diameter. For example; if you have a .300 Win Mag, you would select a 7.62/.308 muzzle device. This is because the bullet for that cartridge is a .308" diameter. At 16", the EFAB has a marginal advantage in both flash suppression and recoil reduction compared to the AFAB. When measuring barrels at 14.5" and below, the EFAB has a substantial advantage, and maintains that performance down to about 10". Therefore, we recommend the EFAB for most applications utilizing SBRs, AR pistols, and bullpups. For 16"+ barrels, the performance difference is close enough that the decision can really come down to user preference.

Awesome
Did exactly as advertised! Put 50 rounds of .223 this past Sunday, huge difference in recoil reduction and muzzle rise. Noticed zero flash, and as far as I'm concerned the noise didn't bother me with proper ear protection. I was shooting in an indoor range. Great product!

My fourth Precision Armaments Brake
I could not be happier with the product that PA supplies. This is my fourth from them. 2 AFAB 1 EFAB and 1 M41-SD. Quality machining and they work as promised. This won't be my last.

Love it
Purchased the AFAB for my wife's Taipan-X 223. I can literally be next to her a couple of feet away from the barrel and feel very little concussion at all. What little recoil there may be it is nothing for my small framed wife. I am a believer . I also purchased the EFA for my 6.5 Creedmoor. Very manageable recoil keeping me on target . much better than others I have tried. Precision Armaments will be my go to for muzzle brakes from now on.
